Recently I have been interviewed by the Shoe Love blog and Sandra’s Closet and its lovely to know people are taking interest in a new brand with all the great positive feedback we have received. So here they are:

Erin Zima from the Shoe Love blog - Erin writes fantastic reviews on shoes based on the design and quality, but also for fit and sizing and comfort, so that people can use this knowledge when buying/trying to track down a shoe. We had a fab chat from one shoe fanatic to another! http://shoefetishist.blogspot.com/2011/03/up-and-coming-designer-havva-mustafa.html
Sandra Bauknecht from Sandra’s Closet- After many years of working as a fashion editor for Marie Claire magazine and a stylist Sandra’s website offers you the insight to anything and everything fashion. What is hot, what items should be pieced together and how to wear it. http://www.sandrascloset.com/my-interview-with-havva-mustafa/

I was invited back to London college of fashion for the CORDWAINERS GRADUATE EXHIBITION 2011. The Graduates of London College Of Fashion’s Cordwainers courses showcased their work for this one evening, which included Footwear, Accessories and Jewellery. The event was an opportunity to see the unique talent of the students and their approach to their designs that have informed their final degree collections. This was a great way for the graduates to showcase their work to the industry, family and friends and reflect on the completion of their course.

I was in the same position once upon a time ago, as I also spent three years developing and widening my knowledge of shoes, so seeing all my old lecturers was fantastic. Within all the hustle and bustle of the students celebrating the graduation show I was delighted to be able to speak to a few of them:
CHLOE STANYON- http://showtime.arts.ac.uk/chloestanyon
“Her final collection focuses around the development of wet- molded construction. The leather is soaked in water and shaped and formed around the wooden last. The end result is a rigid and set form of a shoe with a natural quality and aesthetic that changes and evolves over time.”

ELLEN PITFIELD- http://showtime.arts.ac.uk/ellenpitfield
“Ellen’s final collection was founded on the natural contradiction: looking at the juxtapositions of the natural world and the contrast of embodying both strength and vulnerability. She primarily focused on protection and adaptation, propelling her to experimenting with unique materials such as polymorph. She utilises a vibrant mix of colours and materials to offer a rich distinctive collection”

Heres some more photos of the great work:

Every students work is like a piece of art- its a chance for them to be able to express all their creative talent.
I haven’t written any new blog posts in a while so lets just recap on a few things that we over at HAVVA thought you might find interesting…

The design of the Hotel and Restaurant Astoria in Trondheim included various versions of the cone chairs lending itself to Gloria with the geometric lines and side scroll.

The St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chicago is somewhat famous for its marching walls of blue diamonds and the architectural feature of a pediment in the shape of waves took to the patchwork layers of Venus- wave roofing’s and detailing was a feature of the 1960s architecture. The high shine leather metallic mix was a tribute to the futuristic movement called Googie.

This Spring Summer 2011 sees HAVVA, the women’s footwear brand present a range of shoes and sandals that reflects the diversity of glamour from classics to high fashion footwear. The combination of artisan manufacturing skills, uncompromising quality and innovative fresh design yields passionate individual footwear.
The collection has been crafted with various platforms and heel heights using the very best of traditional Italian craftsmanship coupled with an array of prestigious leathers including suede, kid, textures and metallic’s.
The collection has drawn influences from the 1960s modernist architecture. A lot of bold angles, geometric holes, squares, triangles and other modern patterns were used. All of these shapes and designs represented progress and ‘moving forward.’ They symbolized to the people around them that everything, including architecture and fashion, was moving forward.
So for the next week, everyday im going to be showing you the inspiration behind each design.
But first of all here are the CLASSICS:

Born into a family of footwear designers, Havva’s interest and passion for footwear began from a very early age. After studying at the prestigious Cordwainers Footwear College, developing strong technical skills and graduated with a degree in footwear design and construction, she spent several years in the footwear industry in design, development and resourcing roles which led on to setting up her brand in 2009. A luxury brand filled with infinitely lavish detail and unusual concepts that are expertly constructed using only the finest leathers and craftsmanship to uphold the brands values.
The combination of designs and individual concepts provide a creative alternative flair; the outcome represented by the materials and designs are fused into the final product to be a creation that is rich and uncompromising. The brand reveals an elegant attitude of opulence and self-confidence; these in her eyes are key characteristics, which are irrepressible making HAVVA shoes truly precious objects of desire. The HAVVA brand focuses on the conception of lavish designs and styles, using luxurious leathers and the designs of the lasts and heels giving a uniquely balanced final product for the discerning modern women.
The footwear is made by carefully selected artisans, in which the shoes receive the official stamp of unmistakable quality. It is precisely this know-how that is the vital essence of this company’s philosophy and tradition to maintain perfect attention to detail throughout the design, development and manufacturing processes.
Departing from the norm the aim has been to design and develop unique cutting edge silhouettes pushing women’s footwear into a new direction whilst remaining stylised and feminine. The range of shoes and sandals reflects the diversity of glamour from innovative classics to high fashion footwear.
